Shelter Home
When working in de villages we meet various young people with serious medical problems. Most of them have no money for health insurance, medicines or for admittance to the hospital. Some of these children have been abandoned by their parents or relatives because of witchcraft, of which they are accused. In a effort of placing these children, with serious physical problems at the Child Support Children’s Home (Wa Yiri) or the Child Rescue project for Street Children, we are confronted with their physical care, which cannot be given by both institutes.
In order to help these young people as best as possible, we established a home, where we can accommodate these people temporarily or for a longer time for treatment and care. The Shelter Home will also accomodate the so called bush baby’s. Desparate young grils run away from their village when they are pregnant and deliver their baby somewhere in the bush. Passers by find the baby’s and bring them to the hospital. After a complete check up, the Hospital refers the baby’s to our Shelter Home, where we take care of the baby’s until the Police find the mother or her relatives.
The house is located at our residence, not far from the places where our volunteers stay and should contain 4 bedrooms. There is a caretaker for the nights and a caterer to cook for the children.
