Balang is the eldest of three (3) children. He lost his father ten (10) years ago. Balang and his sister Victoria were introduced to Wa Yiri by Madam Margaret Youni who knew about their plight and gave them some assistance. At the time they were taken to Wa Yiri, their mother was herself hospitalized and depended on Madam Margaret Youni.
Balang’s mother is in good health now but has since her recovery lived with and depended on Madam Margaret Youni, her cousin, till date in the latter’s residence at Wa Sombo, behind PEPS C. Balang currently attends Tender Care and is in JHS 2.

Vida is the second of four children. Her mother is mentally ill and walks the streets of Wa. Her father is a pensioner and lives at Wa Zongo. Because of a drinking problem, the father is not able to take responsibility of the chidren. She currently attends Tender Care Preparatory and is in JHS 2.

Joyce is the youngest sister of Vida and Edward. Her story is the same as the two.

Lydia is the youngest of four children. She shares both parents with Joshua her direct brother and only mother with the first two elder siblings.
The father of Lydia is a native of Yendi in the northern region. It is the belief of the mother that the father was killed in the Dagbon War of which he was a part.
Lydia’s mother is disabled, being lamed by polio. She currently lives in her family house at Wa Kpaguri, depending totally on the goodwill of sympathizers.
Lydia attends Tender Care and is in primary 5.
7. NAME: AISHA KUUNYELA

Aisha is the elder of two children. His father who hails from Issa Tabiasi, worked as a miner in Obuasi, Ashanti where he married her mother who was an Ashanti by tribe.
The father after a protracted sickness, came home from Obuasi and passed away at the village. The mother of the children had to part with them after she refused to get married to a brother of her late husband in accordance to the Dagaare culture. Neither the family nor the children have heard from her since she went back down south.
Both the paternal grandparents of Aisha live in Tabiasi, their village.
The grandfather is Kuunyela Youni and the grandmother is Baalasuuri.
Aisha is a pupil of Tender Care Preparatory School and is in class 6.
8. NAME: MAWSENI KUUNYELA

Mawseni is the youngest brother of Aisha. His story is the same as that of Aisha.
His is current in primary 6 at Tender Care Preparatory School.

Babadaara is the only daughter of her father. The mother has two other daughters who live with their grandmother. Babadaara’s mother is blind and the 37 old woman lives in Wa, Kambala. Every day she goes to the market to beg for money and food.
Babadaara is currently in primary 3 at Tender Care Preparatory School.

MOTHER: Mother travelled to village and is not available to give information. As soon she is back in Wa, I will visit her and ask her for detailed information. Mother is physically handicapped and recently gave birth to a baby boy.
