To all volunteers and
potential volunteers of Child Support-Ghana.
On behalf of all the Ghanaian volunteers, The Board of Child Support-Ghana, the Executive Team of Child Support-Ghana, the Board of Child Support in The Netherlands and all the people of the Upper West Region, I appreciate your interest for
volunteering work for Child Support-Ghana.

Activities: (What we do)
Child Support Children’s Home (Wa Yiri)
To support the children with their education. Extra classes and support with their home work, together with a Ghanaian teacher. All children are schooling at Primary School and/or Junior High School.
Child Support
Project for Street Girls “Child Rescue”
These girls are between 16 and 20 years and have a vocation training in our own shop. We teach them to become a seamstress or a hairdresser. Every morning they have classes, teaching them the basics of English, reading, writing and mathematics. Many of these girls are illiterates.
Child Support Project for (young) Street Girls “Sunjeri”
To support the children with their education. Extra classes and support with their home work, together with a Ghanaian teacher. All children are schooling at Primary School. These girls are between 8 and 13 years old.
Child Support Hospice for People Living with AIDS (PLWA)
In our Hospice we take care of People Living With AIDS (PLWA). Our Volunteer Health workers and trained housemothers are responsible for the well being of the patients
Child Support Shelter Home
In our Shelter home we take care of people that need shelter for a short time. In some cases we
accommodate them when they are sicklers.
Child Support Outreaching Health Care Programme (in remote and deprived villages)
Every week we visit some remote villages with our Health workers to bring free Health Care to the villagers.
Supporting the Wa Regional Hospital for volunteers with a (para) medical background and educationOur Health workers can join the medical staff of the Regional Hospital. However, due to the fact that our volunteers have no working permit, they are not able to “work”, only to orientate and assist. A document in English, stating the status of the
Health worker is required.
Accommodation for volunteers
Child Support volunteers will be accommodated at the Child Support Hostel. The Hostel is situated at the Child Support Residence. Two large bedrooms plus a living room is available. One bedroom has a bathroom and toilet. The rental price for a room is € 100,00 ( = approx. 200 cedi’s) per month, including water and electricity. Volunteers share the costs of living.
When relatives or friends want to visit the volunteers, a affordable guesthouse, close to the Residence is available, as well as a good hotel. We enjoy the service of Vliegwinkel.nl when booking our trips to Ghana and or Holland.
When planning your trip to Ghana the organization JoHo in Leiden, Holland can help you (Volunteer@joho.nl) to get support through the Xploreproject!
